I’m going to start with the obvious question, what is health and safety?

Well in a nutshell health and safety is all about making sure that people are not injured or made ill by work. The health side focusses on ill health effects like bad backs, lung problems, skin conditions, stress etc. The safety side, that’s about stopping incidents and accidents and preventing people from coming to physical harm from workplace activities.

On the 1st July CSCS stopped issuing the Construction Site Operative (CSO) card and replaced it with a new card available for people working in labouring occupations.

For those of you who currently have a CSO card, it will continue to be valid until its individual expiry date, but once your CSO card has expired you will not be able to renew it and instead will have to apply for the new card.
